October 12 Production Update
Factories are opening up after "National Day" this week and quoting production for the 20 test units being made. We'll assemble some stateside and some at our factories abroad.
We are sourcing a new assembly facility to test their yield against what we do stateside. Likely, we'll assemble the first batch here in the good ol' USA.
This means units could be available in November. I know some are eager to get their kettle first. I will make an offer to early adopters should they want to receive them early. This may result in a product being shipped without official packaging. If you have pre-ordered a kettle you will get the opportunity to get an early access unit.
The original kettle played beautifully but does take some coaxing to get going occasionally. Whether that's sloshing water slightly or giving it a tap with a wooden spoon. I'm iterating on 'toughness' or durometer of rubber to achieve a strength suitable to get the kettle play reliably.
This may sound crazy, but for the first time in 3 years I've been on this mission I have working units in my kitchen. We've been shipping them back and forth among our engineering team to make this happen and now I can enjoy the kettle. Here's a video of a rougher prototype getting up to speed. I'm kidding around at the beginning when I say as designed and intended. Enjoy!
