Production Update : April 19, 2023
Dear Tea Kettle Enthusiasts,
We are excited to share the progress made on our product, 24T, since our last update. Our team has been working tirelessly to refine the design and manufacturing process to bring you the best possible product.
Firstly, I traveled to Rochester, New York, to meet with our lead engineer to refine parts and improve the overall performance of the kettle. We have made improvements to the handle squeeze trigger action and enhanced the music sound from the upper housing.
For the first time in 31 months travel to China opened! This is exactly from when I started the project, so I had to visit. After landing our team of two engineers, one technical project manager, and business lead visited factories in China to discuss quality control processes and refine the product to bring it to market. We have also innovated on tooling and post-processing jigs to ensure our tight plastics tolerances can be met.
On a cultural note, the hosts in China were incredibly welcoming, and we presented them with gifts as a sign of appreciation. They returned the gesture with banquet hall lunches, making our experience even more memorable.
During our trip, we met with investors who were receptive to our hardware-based product, which is a refreshing change from the Silicon Valley angel investors we usually speak with, who tend to focus solely on software.
In pitching 24T, I was reminded of how much this product meant to everyone who owned one in the 1980s. It became part of the fabric of their lives and a nice treat they could enjoy alone or share with others. This trip has filled me with encouragement, and we are not far off from a completed product!
In about 25 days, we will have revisions to parts available for testing for ten sets. With the new jigs for tooling, we hope they meet our standards. If they test well, we will produce all the remaining parts for the whistle and move into quality assurance and production.
Lastly, we were gifted another original kettle from 1986. Although the handle is broken, the whistle is intact and will provide profound insights into the performance of our product.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our backers for their continued support and patience as we work towards bringing you the best possible product. We will continue to keep you updated on our progress, and we can't wait for you to try out 24T for yourselves.
